My Process
1.
Imagine
Find a story. Merge with current events or society preoccupations.
2.
Plan
I outline as much as possible. But sometimes, I get eager to write the story and the outline slowly fades away.
3.
Create
I try to write every day, normally in the morning. I set a daily word count objective and I write the draft. I’ll edit at the end of the day, sometimes.
4.
Publish
My english skills are not perfect, so I hire a line-editor to go thru the manuscript. Then I plan for the cover, marketing, and the launch.
“I love writing. Making certain all those small details come into a final scene.”
– RC Cameron
“The process of making a book come to life is not necessarily easy. Once you’ve given your best to produce a manuscript, comes the revisions. In my case there are many. I try to revise until I can’t find any more words to change, commas to displace or sentences to erase. Then, I send it to a professional editor who still finds corrections. But after a while, it’s time to publish.”
– RC Cameron
The secret of good writing is to strip every sentence to its cleanest components. Every word that serves no function, every long word that could be a short word, every adverb that carries the same meaning that’s already in the verb, every passive construction that leaves the reader unsure of who is doing what—these are the thousand and one adulterants that weaken the strength of a sentence.
